Fishing guides
Species shelves for bass, walleye, crappie, trout and pike, plus tackle, technique and water condition guides. Written for the fish you are actually chasing, not for a tackle catalogue.
About
Fishy Lips is an independent freshwater fishing site. The idea behind it is simple: read the water before you spend a day on it. Everything here is either a guide, a free practice tool, a plan you can build from published agency data, or a catch someone sent in and a moderator approved.
Species shelves for bass, walleye, crappie, trout and pike, plus tackle, technique and water condition guides. Written for the fish you are actually chasing, not for a tackle catalogue.
A lure selection read, a six-round lure challenge, trip scenarios and a hookset timing drill. All free, no account, and every result is labelled as practice rather than a live forecast.
Lake research built on what state wildlife agencies publish, so you can see the access, habitat, stocking and survey facts that exist instead of guessing at them.
Master Angler programs, trophy and first fish certificates, and record fish lists in all fifty states, each linked back to the agency that runs it.
Catches anglers send in, reviewed by a moderator before they are ranked. Weight and length are ranked separately, and location is shown only when the angler allows it.
A separate, optional app with bite windows, lure matching, fish identification, a catch log and a trip planner. Everything on Fishy Lips works without it.
Water facts come from the state agency that publishes them, and the page they came from is linked so you can read the source yourself. Where an agency has not published something, the page leaves it blank rather than filling the gap.
Community observations are labelled separately from official data. Practice tools run on fixed scripts in your browser, label their results as simulated, and save nothing.
Leaderboard catches are community submissions, reviewed by a moderator before they appear. They are not official records, and the board says so.
If a guide is out of date, a tool is behaving oddly, or you know of a lake worth adding, send a message. There is no sign-up needed and no email address to hunt for.
